If a genie just happened to grant me 3 wishes at this very moment, I feel fairly confident that I could redeem those almost immediately in the form of the following requests . . .
(1) Peace in the middle east (2) End World Hunger
(3) Force everyone to use Firefox as their internet browser
There are quite a number of hurdles to overcome in the world of web design that continue to test one’s sanity on a daily basis, not the least of which is Browser compatibililty. The main component in this contentious issue, prolonging the agony for those of us who have had to work around it for so long, is the fact that Internet Explorer continues to dominate the market as the default internet browser bundled with every Windows Operating System.
Because of this, web designers and developers alike have been victim to Microsoft’s apparent lack of urgency in fixing the bugs in this program, making the software giant the endless butt of jokes and the bane of our existence for longer than some of us care to remember. Some samples:

There are various other options out there of course, Firefox being the best one, although the average user doesn’t give a lot of thought to this and seems unwilling to go looking for reasons to download stuff on their computers. As a result, we just have to face facts that IE will probably always have a pretty good grip on browser market share, as this report indicates, at least for a while longer. But who knows … maybe that will change.
The best thing you can do now if you haven’t already, is Download Firefox, because besides being a superior browser in almost every respect, Firefox has some pretty nifty extensions, one of the best ones being the Web Developer add-on which installs a toolbar for viewing all elements of a web page, and there are a host of others all aimed specifically at web developers.
Admittedly, those 3 wishes look pretty unattainable at times, but if all of us do our own little part, who knows ?
