Flava Flv !

flashIt’s no secret that Flash Video (FLV) is the preferred method for deploying video on the web, and the progression of the Flash authoring environment and Flash Video Encoder (with On2 vp6 video codec) in just the last couple of years has meant the process has developed quickly into something that’s easy to do. I use the Video Encoder all the time to convert from other formats so I can quickly pop a video into a web page, and couldn’t live without it.

And there are a couple of handy extras that make great add-on tools for when you’re working with Flash Video, made even better because they’re Free downloads.

One of those is the stand alone FLV Player by Martijn Devisser. This makes viewing an FLV on your computer dead simple, because all you have to do is open the player from anywhere on your computer and then just drag and drop the FLV into it. It’s got some added bells and whistles for enhanced features, but this alone makes it one of those must have tools.

And speaking of must have, this next app is one of the best bangs for your buck, because it has revolutionized the ease with which a web designer can now custom create their own Video Player within Flash, in a Flash ! I’m speaking of Video Maru of course, and I don’t have to explain it in any detail because video.maru’s creator lays it all out for you in a series of simple video tutorials which can be found over at polygeek.com.

Do yourself a favor and download both of these ……..
